Brand new to Cloth Diapering? Here's some information to help!!
First off, we recommend easy and simple. The easiest diapers that we have found to use are Pocket Diapers or All-In-One Diapers. Popular brands of pocket diapers are FuzziBunz, BumGenius, and Happy Heiny's, but there are many more brands that we have available.
Another route to take, which is even more of a money saver, is by chosing a One-Size Diaper. These diapers are adjustable for a wide range of weight, usually in the 7 lb to 35 lb weight range. This enables you to use the diapers for longer periods of time, and also allows for two in cloth to be able to use all of the same diapers with just an easy snap adjustment.
We would suggest starting out with a beginner package, or a budget-oriented package. Cloth Diaper Superstore has an awesome beginning cloth diapering package line called Booty-In-A-Boxtm Beginner Packs. These beginner packs come in small, medium and large and include a sampling of diapers and accessories to fit any budget or any family's needs. Budget-oriented packages are more price specific. You would choose how much you want to spend, and then we would contact you via phone or email and put together a special package oriented just for you and your needs.
We want to reiterate that Cloth Diaper Superstore has a 30-day, no questions asked guarantee on all of the diaper products that we sell. We will take back any diapers that don't work for you and trade you for brands or types of diapers that will.
Cloth Diaper Terminology:

|
All-in-One Cloth Diapers(AIO) These diapers are the closest to disposables that you will find on the market. No stuffing pockets. No extra loose inserts. These are easy on, easy off diapers and the most leak proof diapers to use. The inserts are built in. The outers are waterproof. They fasten with Velcro or snaps. |

|
Fitted Cloth Diapers These diapers are not waterproof, so they do require a cover. They come in various fabrics, most of them in natural fibers such as organic cottons, bamboo velour, and more squishy soft fabrics. These diapers are VERY popular to the die-hard cloth diapering family. These diapers work fabulous on newborns.
Pocket Diaper - Pocket diapers are probably the most popular diaper on the market. With the emergence of FuzziBunz, pocket diapers have evolved. There are front snapping pocket diapers, side snapping pocket diapers, one size pocket diapers, fleece pocket diapers, and more. |

Pre-fold and Flat Diapers(old-fashioned diapers) These diapers are the most cost conservative diapers. They require fasteners such as diaper pins or Snappis, and they are used with a diaper cover. Cloth Diaper Superstore carries Chinese Prefold diapers as these are the most reliable prefolds on the market. They come in bleached (white) and unbleached (natural).
Diaper Cover Any non-waterproof diapers need a diaper cover. Diaper covers are made from various fabrics, with the most popular being PUL. The two main closures used in diaper covers are Velcro and snaps. Thirsties diaper covers are an extremely popular Velcro closure diaper cover. Imse Vimse makes an organic Velcro diaper cover. For those looking for a more versatile diaper cover, Wonderwraps has a fabulous one-size diaper cover that adjusts from size small to large with the adjustment of a snap! Many seasoned cloth diaper families prefer wool covers (see wool section below) for the antibacterial properties and superb absorbancy.
Wool products - Why, oh why wool? Okay, so not only is wool very cute, very trendy, and very versatile, but it is also a mainstay for so many cloth diapering families. Products in the wool line include longies (long pants), footies (footed pants), shorties (short pants), and soakers (cover). Wool does take special care, so please read up on wool care, lanolization, and designer-specific washing instructions listed here on this site.
Diaper Sprayer - This is an absolute "must-have" for so many cloth diapering families. No more DUNKING!! The MiniShower is a very popular hand-held diaper sprayer. Handy families have also been able to create their own sprayer from common products sold at their local home improvement stores. Here is a link to a great "home project" sprayer.
Wet Bag A wet bag is a water-resistant, leak-resistant bag/tote that can be used for the temporary storage of soiled diapers and other wet items such as swimsuits, gym clothes, and even dirty clothes. Our sister site, Leslie's Boutique, is also our own signature line of wet bags. We are unique in that we change fabrics with fashion trends. Our bags have snap handles for versatility, and now they have intact, attached PUL liners so there is no more stuffing the PUL back into the bag after washing.

A day in the life of cloth diapering
1. Up at the crack of dawn (we are talking babies, right?).
2. Diaper change. Take cloth diaper to the bathroom, rinse off with diaper sprayer, and toss into a large wet bag.
3. Repeat step #2 as needed throughout the day.
4. When wet bag is full and you're ready for washing, unzip wet bag, let diapers tumble into the washer, toss the wet bag in with them, and close the lid.
SEE, NOW THAT WASN'T THAT HARD, WAS IT???
How many diapers will I need?
Newborn to 3 months 18 - 24 diapers Infant (4 to 12 months) 15 20 diapers Toddler (12 months to potty training) 16 - 20 diapers
How many in a day? We guesstimate needing 7-10 cloth diaper per day for a newborn, and on average 6-8 diapers per day for 3 months and above. We suggest doing laundy either daily, or every other day.
